Task 1 - Treatment "Voices" (P1)


Treatment
Outline of purpose or concept/plot  
The outline of the plot is that there are two friends that walk past a gravestone. One of the friend (Zara) is laughing and continues even after her other friend (Maria) tells her not to. Then Maria tells a story of people who have heard voices in their heads after laughing at the gravestone of this particular old man. Zara does not believe it, and continues to laugh around the gravestone. After some time, Zara begins to hear voices in her head that no one else hears. She freaks out, and asks Maria how to get rid of hearing voices. At the end she goes back to the gravestone and apologises until the voices suddenly stop. 

Target audience and scheduling/distribution                    
The target audience is 16 to late 20s. This is because this age range would be more appealing to the story line. This short film is distributed to the ‘East End Urban Film Festival’      
                                                                                            
Genres and themes                                                                                                        
The genres of the urban legend are horror and mystery. The story would related to people that live specifically in East London and are familiar with east end culture.                                                                                                            
Settings and locations
The chosen locations are side streets/alleys with street art. This can be within Bethnal Green or Shoreditch area. Other locations are outside of shop like Tesco, the characters Maria and Zara’s bedroom and iconic streets of East London like Bow or Bethnal Green areas.

Personnel and job roles 
There were multiple job roles like Habiba the director, Najma the camera operator, Mahid the sound guy, Rahim the lighting operator, Mahir the production assistant, Ragavi and Rukba the actors etc ; we also shared some roles like camera person, sound guy, lighting operator, production assistant etc.                                                                                                                
Equipment
The equipment which will be needed for the short film are a JVC camera, tripod, lighting, boom pole, microphone, cables, baseplate, white paper (for white balance), SD cards, batteries and a penny to screw baseplate to camera. The props are normal clothes like hoodies and trainers.

Budget                                                                                                                               
The budgets are the following: the rental of cameras for three days adds up to £253; the rental of sound equipment including cables, a shotgun mic, a mount and an XLR cable adds up to £40 and the rental of an editing studio with software adds up to £180 with total costs adding up to £473.     
                                                                                                
Legal and ethical considerations 
The legal considerations for the short film “Voices” are to make sure that any music used was either royalty free or used with permission, as to make sure the provider was credited. The ethical considerations is to make sure it does not discriminate any minority group or any specific ethnicity as well as avoid causing personal offense. In addition we also had to make sure that we have permission to film in certain locations and that we have a permit for doing so.
